ORGANIC tea is grown in almost every tea-producing country, on plantations where strict rules for health and safety are enforced by the European Union and the United States Department of Agriculture. A tea garden must use organic husbandry for at least two years before they will be considered for certification. Tea is an extremely clean product even without organic production methods (pesticides are not needed at high altitudes, and weeds may be encouraged in order to anchor the bush to the side of a steep mountain, so herbicides may not be necessary), but the number of folks concerned about the viability of the planet – who appreciate the fine quality and flavor of organic products – is growing. If you are one of those, consider our offering of EU Certified and USDA Certified Organic Teas. Organic production is labor-intensive and expensive, but we have kept our prices at a fair level, so we can participate in the global effort to protect the environment.
